چکیده

This article studies a hyperbolic conservation law that models a highly re-entrant manufacturing system as encountered in semi-conductor production. Characteristic features are the nonlocal character of the velocity and that the influx and outflux constitute the control and output signal, respectively. We prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions for L-data, and study their regularity properties. We also prove the existence of optimal controls that minimizes in the L-sense the mismatch between the actual and a desired output signal. Finally, the time-optimal control for a step between equilibrium states is identified and proven to be optimal.

A Scheduling Model for the Re-entrant Manufacturing System and Its Optimization by NSGA-II

In this study, a two-objective mixed-integer linear programming model (MILP) for multi-product re-entrant flow shop scheduling problem has been designed. As a result, two objectives are considered. One of them is maximization of the production rate and the other is the minimization of processing time. The system has m stations and can process several products in a moment. The re-entrant flow sho...

Output Feedback Stabilization for a Scalar Conservation Law with a Nonlocal Velocity

In this paper, we study the output feedback stabilization for a scalar conservation law with a nonlocal velocity that models a highly re-entrant manufacturing system as encountered in semiconductor production. By spectral analysis, we obtain a complete result on the exponential stabilization for the linearized control system. Moreover, by using a Lyapunov function approach, we also prove the ex...

Optimal control of a linearized continuum model for re-entrant manufacturing production systems

A re-entrant manufacturing system producing a large number of items and involving many steps can be approximately modeled by a hyperbolic partial differential equation (PDE) according to mass conservation law with respect to a continuous density of items on a production process. The mathematic model is a typical nonlinear and nonlocal PDE and the cycle time depends nonlinearly on the work in pr...

Modeling of a Probabilistic Re-Entrant Line Bounded by Limited Operation Utilization Time

This paper presents an analytical model based on mean value analysis (MVA) technique for a probabilistic re-entrant line. The objective is to develop a solution method to determine the total cycle time of a Reflow Screening (RS) operation in a semiconductor assembly plant. The uniqueness of this operation is that it has to be borrowed from another department in order to perform the production s...
